Governor Morrisey Celebrates Grand Opening of New Passenger Terminal at North Central West Virginia Airport ...
Bridgeport, W.Va. - Today, Governor Patrick Morrisey joined airport officials, local leaders, and community members in Bridgeport to celebrate the grand opening and ribbon-cutting of the new passenger terminal at North Central West Virginia Airport (CKB).
"This terminal is more than just a gateway for travelers, it is a launchpad for economic opportunity across North Central West Virginia," said Governor Morrisey. "By pairing world-class infrastructure with lower taxes and a pro-growth business climate, we are making the Mountain State the best place in the country to live, work, and build an enterprise. Today’s ribbon-cutting shows the nation that West Virginia is moving forward and building for the long haul."
The state-of-the-art facility represents a major infrastructure upgrade designed to serve as a modern front door for North Central West Virginia, expanding commercial flight availability and supporting regional economic growth.
The opening of the new CKB terminal aligns with broader economic development momentum across the state. Since taking office, the Morrisey administration has announced nearly $13 billion in private-sector investments projected to create more than 13,700 jobs statewide.
To complement major private investments, Governor Morrisey signed tax relief legislation earlier this year providing over $230 million in annual tax cuts, including a 5 percent across-the-board personal income tax reduction and targeted tax relief for working families and expanding businesses.
"Infrastructure is the engine that drives economic progress, and modern air travel serves as our front door for business and tourism alike," Governor Morrisey said. "Last year alone, West Virginia welcomed over 77 million visitors, generating a record $9.1 billion economic impact and supporting nearly 61,000 jobs across our state. Modernizing CKB gives travelers a world-class first impression of the Almost Heaven experience."
To support the completion of airport infrastructure, the Governor’s Civil Contingency Fund previously contributed nearly $2 million toward a $5 million taxiway project connecting the main runway directly to the new terminal facility.
